From Overweight to Overcoming – Now I Help Others Do the Same

Hi, I’m Alyn—a personal trainer who’s walked the hard road and come out stronger. My journey started when I was overweight and struggling with basic movements. Through consistency, mindset shifts, and a focus on functional fitness, I transformed my body—and my life.

Now, my mission is to help others surprise themselves with what they’re capable of. That look of pride and joy when someone hits a goal they never thought possible? That’s why I do what I do.

I specialize in functional movement, strength, and resilience training, helping busy individuals move better and live stronger—whether it's climbing stairs without pain or carrying all the groceries in one go (because let’s be honest, we all try to do that).

Training should be fun, and I do everything within my power to make sure you enjoy the journey. That said, it won’t always be easy. Depending on where you’re starting from and what your goals are, I’ll work closely with you every step of the way—tracking your progress week by week, keeping it real, keeping it simple, and pushing you further to become the person you know you can be.

There will be laughter, maybe even a few tears, but most importantly—there will be progress. No matter what version of your best self you envision, I’m here to help you get there.

One of the biggest things I see holding people back is comparison. We constantly measure ourselves against others—and my favourite quote says it best:
“Comparison is the thief of joy.”
That couldn’t be more true.

I’m here to help you build confidence, grow your knowledge, and unlock your capability—your journey, your pace, your transformation.

I signed up with Alyn in August as I have a knee issue and needed to improve my leg strength and overall body power to enable me to continue to play tennis matches. On signing I had been away from sport except yoga for 4 months, couldn’t kneel down without pain and had real difficulty with squats and even stairs on bad days. Each week Alyn taught me different ways to exercise using both simple bands and weights plus the various machines around the gym at Pelhams. Who knew improving my core and back strength would help my knees too ! Today was my last session (for now) and the difference in my movement is amazing. As I did my stretches I knelt with ease. All I can say to Alyn is thank you for helping me and to anyone reading this if you need someone to assist you, give Alyn a call.

As a woman in her 50’s lacking confidence in my appearance among other things. I was comparing myself to those on social media…, yes big mistake. Feeling stuck… Alyn as a professional has made my fitness journey a fun and challenging one. Understanding the importance of fuelling my body rather than cutting calories was so helpful. He helped to inspire and create a safe space to explore the next steps in my fitness journey.

The benefits of working with Alyn is that he is consistent and adaptable. After only 6 weeks, I have noticed changes in how I feel and my strength is continuing to grow.
