As one of the recommended personal trainers at the gym, I reached out Jack as I was looking for some personal training in York. As a novice to gym environments, Jack has helped me to gain confidence in using weights, operating the various machines at the gym and training solo on something other than the treadmill.
Jack is also easy to talk to which makes training with him comfortable, but he’s also encouraging and able to push my training limits.
It’s been a couple of months and I'm noticing improvements in my strength.

After having a health scare in 2023 and then a second diagnosis earlier this year, I felt absolutely crushed. I knew that I had to make some serious real life changes but also knew that I couldn't do it alone, so I took the plunge and decided to work with a PT. I chose Jack because he specializes in weight training and muscle gain, and also because he partakes in competitions in his personal life. Ultimately it was the best thing I ever did. Jack is fantastic, he has helped me get back on my feet rapid. He will help you with meal plans, make sure you take on correct form with compound movements, work closely with you to achieve your goals, and he also has this uncanny ability of chattering away so you never feel anxious or self conscious in the gym. I really trust him when I'm working with the bar bell squat and can honestly say all other areas of my life feel so much more regulated, I'm eating better, sleeping better and ultimately feel more confident physically and mentally. If you want more from your body and mind, I highly recommend getting to the gym and working Jack, not only will you be fitter and healthier but you will also have a giggle. I asked Jack to help me sort out a gym programme that would both help me improve my overall strength and focussed on exercises that would be useful for cricket.
He has helped me sort out a plan that ticks all the boxes and I can carry out around my other training commitments.
Before writing me the plan we spent a good amount of time in the gym going over the movements that might be included and the muscle groups and sport specific movements that these target and strengthen. He was fantastic at explaining the proper form for movements I hadn’t done before and after the session I felt confident that I could carry out the subsequent training plan. He’s also frequently in the gym and is always more than happy to answer any questions that come up as I continue my plan.
The plan itself was very well organised and thorough and included information that explained everything. Diagrams to remind me how to execute the specific activities and explanations of specific terms he used in the plan.
Jack is also a very friendly bloke and takes genuine pride and interest in his training plans and how you are getting on with them. It’s well worth tapping in to his expertise and I’d thoroughly recommend anyone to book a session, well worth it!

Met with Jack this week for advice on a training program at the gym. Although I've been attending the gym for a while, I was getting a bit stale and really wanted to know what other exercises I could be doing (especially as I have a long term shoulder injury and a recent leg injury).
Jack's a great guy; really encouraging and knowledgeable and he's created a detailed development plan to work to.
As an older and unfit guy, I sometimes feel a bit intimidated in some areas of the gym, but he's given me the encouragement to get stuck in and work on a wider range of machinery & weights.

Jack is exactly what I Needed to get some more confidence in the gym. I’m 45yo woman wanting to built strength and muscle which is actually very difficult if you don’t stick to a good customised workout routine. I’ve noticed an improvement in form, confidence and sleep in just 3 weeks, by the for 4th week I could lift a little heavier weights my walking pace has also improved.
Jack is very knowledgeable, patient and respectful, I always feel accomplished after every session.

Had a great first weights session to try to build my strength / bones with Jack today . I have been a member at the gym but walked through it to get to my Pilates / yoga classes ! As a woman who has avoided any form of 'PE' for the previous 60 years, I am very self-conscious in the gym. However, my physio had suggested joining the gym to build some strength to improve my hip/ lower back pain. After a few months of three times a week half hourly sessions, the pain was reducing but I felt I could do with some advice on how to push myself a little harder without risking further injury. 90 minutes with Jack has introduced me to some new ideas and given me a new training schedule for the next couple of months. I feel much more confident about my technique and its great knowing I can check in with Jack and go back to him when I feel ready for the next step.

Since rejoining the gym in November I always stuck to the same machines and had “gym fear” of all the other people around me working so hard. In Feb, I decided to take the plunge to boost my own work outs and my confidence in the gym, and approach Jack for some hints and tips, and then completed a taster session. IVE NOT LOOKED BACK SINCE! I’ve enjoyed every session, and he had programmed me days for when I’m not with him, and has set me up with good nutritional information to support my goals.

Great couples training sessions! My husband and I signed up with Jack to a series of weekly sessions after I had a free taster session and we are both absolutely loving them! Returning to the gym after a few months out was a bit daunting and we were bored by our old sessions. Jack has designed a fun and challenging programme that we can do together that he expertly amends to take account of our various injuries and aches. In 6 weeks we both feel so much fitter and stronger and have made great progress in toning up our body shapes. I love the constant adaptations that keep this interesting alongside a healthy bit of couples rivalry! We would highly recommend Jack to anyone considering a bit of personal training support, whatever your goals, for expert and friendly advice from a really nice guy.

Jack is an excellent personal trainer. I’m a fit guy in my 30’s with decent numbers on my main lifts and have competed in local CrossFit competitions in the York area. Jack has managed to create me a program that caters for my needs perfectly. He has blended my criteria of 'gaining strength, driving body recomp and post shoulder surgery injury rehab' perfectly. I've been training with him for about a month and my progress is tangible and visible. We are pushing decent strength gains safely and my potential pain points (back/shoulder) are protected. Jacks ability to show the moves and break down machines, free weights and compound moves into easily replicable instructions is second to none. Thanks Jack. ?

But Jack made everything so easy to understand! He showed me exactly what exercises work best for my body and made me feel super comfortable and confident. (Especially now that I’m the leanest I’ve been and not bulky ?)
Now, I can walk into the gym without freaking out, and I actually know what I’m doing! I still book in with Jack sometimes just to check in, get a little inspo. But he’s given me all the tools I need to train on my own. If you’re scared of the gym or just need someone to help you figure things out, Jack is 100% the person to go to!

Being over weight and in my 50’s I was very anxious about going to a gym but Jack made me feel really comfortable and at ease. He helped me build my confidence and build on my fitness journey. I trained with Jack for around a year to help me drop some weight and tone up. I felt quite anxious about lifting weights because I hadn’t done it before and it felt really intimidating - but Jack was great at putting me at ease, he taught me how to do everything correctly and I really surprised myself as with the correct form I could lift heavier weights than I thought!
