During my first 18 months here I have helped people work towards a variety of goals such as muscle gain, fat loss, and injury rehabilitation. Two recent successes have been a clients continual weight loss of 10kg in 6 months, in addition to helping another client eliminate sciatic nerve pain and restore their functional mobility.

I have always been obsessed with health and fitness. My formative years were spent playing competitive football in the UK and US and studying at Loughborough University for four years.

My training philosophy is centred around helping people live pain free by systematically decompressing the body and optimising movement patterns. I believe it is our birthright as human beings to be able to rest kneeling on the ground, or in a deep squat, touch our toes, and walk, run, and jump without pain!

I can't recommend Tom highly enough. He has a unique ability to tap into your goals and motivation, creating really personalised plans and a safe space for change to happen.

When I first met him I petulantly told him I hated the gym and was only there until my physio sanctioned a return to running, I had no interest in changing my diet and no particular aesthetic goals...

Wind forward a year and with Tom's support and inspiration I've made big changes and seen big gains (and lost 10kg!)!

At 41 and having had 3 kids I genuinely feel like the strongest, healthiest, happiest version of myself - and I'm still learning, changing and growing, who knew that was possible? I did get back to running but now I'm having so much fun in the gym it's hard to fit it all in! I've already recommended Tom to all my friends who are seeing similar success, I can't thank him enough :)

I went to Tom after hurting my back at the gym and with continued hip pain from the injury and running. Tom knows a lot about mobility training and injury recovery and prevention, teaching new ways and movements to train in order to prevent further injury. He also mixes this in with other exercises and circuits depending on your fitness levels and capability. You can tell he has a lot of interest and spends a lot of time looking into different methods and things to train. Highly recommend!

When I first came to Tom I had two bulging discs causing terrible sciatica shooting from my lower back down to my right foot. I couldn't roll over in bed, bend down and pick something up, or walk to the gym without significant pain. Over the last few months, I have worked with Tom twice a week. In that time I have gained marked improvements in my mobility and now experience considerably less pain. Thanks to his patience and attention to detail I now feel equipped with the tools and the knowledge to prevent symptoms arising in the future

I was pleasantly surprised to find Thomas Barnes a very knowledgeable trainer in regards to dealing with someone who has chronic pain. His level of training was never demanding or lacking empathy. He was patient, very professional, showed me the exact exercises needed to strengthen and relax. Excellent with stretch positions too. Can't wait to be able to go back to training again. Recommend him from the heart.

I’ve been coming to Thomas’ sessions for almost a year now and I can’t count how much I’ve learnt from him. His level of expertise is second to none and I throughly enjoy every session. I have also noticed a major improvement in my posture and other areas too. Highly recommend you give Thomas a go!

What a journey Tom has taken me on! Over 6 months his guidance has achieved 12kg weight loss and a fat percentage reduction from 39% to 31%. My fitness age has improved from 45 to 37 so far (I’m 36). Tom’s hard work and dedication has helped to achieve a serious milestone. Working with Tom four times a week, sometimes five, has kept me focused and allowed me to dial in my diet and recovery appropriately. Programmes have been progressively challenging and maintained variety and engagement; boxing, WODs, GOTA and many many different circuits. Tom’s knowledge of mobility and recovery is awesome, and for anyone determined to achieve a massive transformation I would back Tom to achieve it with you.
